  2. Sheet Formation: The pulp is mixed into a watery slurry with various additives (like sizing agents for water resistance). This slurry is rapidly spread onto a moving wire screen, where the water drains away, and the fibers interlock to form a wet sheet.

  3. Pressing and Drying: The wet sheet is then pressed between heavy rollers to remove more water and compact the structure. It passes through a series of heated cylinders to be carefully dried, which is a critical step in setting the paper's final thickness, stability, and crucial strength properties.

  4. Finishing: Finally, the paper may be smoothed (calendered) or receive specialized coatings, such as a poly-coating for moisture resistance, before being wound into enormous industrial rolls.
